JUST IN TIME
PrEP
TO GET ON
Just by protecting yourself, you can help stop the spread of HIV.
It's NEVER too late to care...
WHAT IS PrEP?
Pre-exposure prophylaxis (or PrEP) is a once daily pill that reduces the risk of HIV infection in Negative-Tested patients. Studies have shown that using PrEP on a daily basis can reduce the risk of HIV infection from sexual encounter by 99% and from intravenous drug use by 74% .
While its main function is to protect against HIV, PrEP does not prevent other STIs.

CAN I TAKE PrEP?
Since PrEP is a pre-exposure pill, the primary requirement for patients is to have an HIV-negative status.

PrEP can be an option if:

-
You’re in an ongoing sexual relationship with a partner living with HIV.

-
You’re having multiple casual sexual encounters and condom use is not always guaranteed.

-
You’re in a new sexual relationship but not yet aware of your sexual partners HIV status and not using condoms.

-
You’re not using condoms with partners who are at high risk of HIV infection.

-
You’ve shared injecting equipment or have been in a treatment program for injecting drug use.
